Spring is here!!!

Welcome to St. Helen Michigan - An Off Road Paradise!

The nearly 60 miles of recreational trails attract visitors from miles away and all walks of life. Just recently Travis Pastrana, a celebrity motorcycle and ATV professional, traveled to St. Helen with the Nitro Circus for some down time on the great trails here. The group enjoyed some fun at the new rock climb area being constructed. Due to the overwhelming use of the trail system here and the huge crowd of enthusiasts it has become apparent there is a need for an ORV club. Here in lies the beginning of The St. Helen Dirtpackers.

The St. Helen Dirt Packers became official as of October 22nd. This new ORV club is excited to bring atv, side by side, motorcycle, and jeep enthusiasts together for recreation and community. The Dirt Packers are a non-profit membership organization for individuals interested in Off Road Recreation. The purpose of the Club is to promote safe ORV use through education, provide organized events, provide existing trail maintenance in conjunction with the DNRE, and promote new trail development. .

There is currently a membership drive underway. Memberships are $20 for an individual, $30 for an organization, and $40 for a business. The board consists of Jim Lyttle as president, Justin Plunkett as vice president, Pam Colby as secretary, Jake Barton as treasurer and Bill Carbray as trustee. Committees will be set up at future meetings for such things as trail maintenance, grant writing, events, etc. Regular monthly meeting dates will be set soon. Club activity is expected to be in full swing by spring of 2011. .
